A burning smell or scorching means heat where there should not be any. Keep people away, and if you can safely reach the main switch, turn it off. If there is smoke or flame, call 000 first.

Plug appliances back in one at a time. If the switch trips when a particular one goes in, that appliance is faulty. If it trips again later with nothing new plugged in, the circuit has a fault. Book Kelly to find it.
